Computer Lab for April 15

3rd, 5th and 6th Periods

  1. Go to this link and take your STAR Test. If you need your log in raise your hand.
  2. When you finish your STAR Test begin working on this week’s vocab located here. 
    • First, find two words that use each prefix and write the definitions for each word on the back of your Word Map handout.
    • Next, choose four of the words you looked up and complete the Vocabulary Word Map handout, make sure you include at least 3 synonyms in the synonym box.
  3. After you’ve turned in your Word Map begin typing your “I Am” poem. For an online copy of the story go here. 

Small Group: After they finish the vocab, a few students will work with either me or Ms. Whaley  on influencing and paraphrasing.

4th Period

  1. Go to this link and take your STAR Test. If you need your log in raise your hand.
  2. In Part Six of The Book Thief Death says, “It was a year for the ages, like 79, like 1346, to name just a few. Forget the scythe, . . . I needed a broom or a mop. And I needed a vacation” (307). Research the years 79, 1346 and 1942. Summarize the important events of each year on a Google Doc , one paragraph per year. Finally, write a paragraph comparing the three years’ events and describing why Death was so busy during those years. What other years might also be used in this comparison?
